Catalogue instructions - ACNM Library

Consult the help menu to learn different types of searches in more detail.

When an item reads NEWLY ACQUIRED this means it is a REFERENCE ITEM.
When an item reads IN TRANSIT this means it is CHECKED IN.



Home

general keyword search.

Search (Basic)

choice of field to search within.

General keyword
Title keyword or browse
Author keyword or browse
Subject keyword or browse


* browsing allows scrolling through alphabetical lists.

Search (Advanced)

search multiple fields simultaneously.

* results can be limited to a collection, campus, etc..

Search (Power)

sophisticated searching with refining and limiting features.


Boolean searching allows to use AND, OR, NOT.

Australia AND Plants finds results with only Australia and Plants.

Australia OR Plants finds results with the term Australia and also results with the term
Plants, not necessarily both in the same result.

Australia NOT Plants finds results with Australia but not Plants.

Boolean searching can be used on any of the 4 search screens.


Truncation allows for multiple variations on a term.

Nutri* finds results like Nutrition, Nutrient, Nutritional, etc...

History keeps a log of all search queries.

My List stores a list of your findings.

Request Item automatically puts a title on request.

My Account access library details entering barcode number on the back of the student card.

DON’T FORGET TO LOG-OUT

Brisbane journals are in the catalogue, Melbourne journals can be browsed via a folder on the library computer desktops.
A list of all MCNM Journal Holdings (incl. vol. & no.) is located at the Journal Desk.

Also available on the library computer desktops are Journal databases such as, ProQuest, AltHealthWatch, and Science-Direct.
