This blog will no longer be updated..

It has been fun developing this blog and learning lots...

I no longer work at ACNM in a full time capacity so I won't have time to do the fun things like blogging.

Even though I'm not updating this blog it can still be used as a reference hub.

Vioxx Shows: FDA Unable To Protect Public From Deadly Medical Drugs
By Josef Hasslberger
"According to recent congressional testimony, "the FDA as currently configured is incapable of protecting America against another Vioxx. We are virtually defenceless," said David Graham, associate director of the agency's Office of Drug Safety. The quote is from an article published in South Africa, titled Doctor: FDA is too cosy with drug firms. The FDA is the national food and medicines regulatory agency of the US but it has been held in high esteem in countries world wide, where drug safety is the issue. So much so, that many drugs are approved around the world as if by an invisible domino effect. Once the FDA gives it the green light,..."

BUTTER VERSUS MARGARINE
By Chris Gupta
"The following article (extracted from Dr. Lawrence Wilson's information dense site) is one of the best that I have seen on this issue. While the propaganda mill of the industry has hood winked us into thinking that their counterfeit copy is better - the real reason is the considerable profit that margarine, and other processed foods bring over the more expensive natural products."

FEATURES

Selenium Status Is Associated With Accelerated HIV / AIDS
By Chris Gupta on Health through Nutrition
"Even more abominable is the zeal with which toxic drugs and immunization are thrust on the sick and malnourished of the poor and 3rd world. One cannot expect to get away with this additional hit on these already immune compromised populations but that does not phase
their mantra of lies and deception. Imagine WHO, turned - a rogue authority, whose 3rd world vaccine budgets are larger than procuring water for those countries. Surely you don't think that they are looking after our concerns do you???"

New Michael Moore Film 'Sicko' - Healthcare Industry on Alert
By Canida International
..."Benoit said he has heard rumours of pharmaceutical companies circulating internal memos about the movie, but has not actually seen any. On commenting on the text of Aventis' email, he said, 'They have reason to worry, because when [Moore] takes..."

Medscape - Your Credibility is on the Line...
By Canida International
"
With Medscape, a simple look at your Editorial Board, by a consumer, will instantly reduce your credibility to ZERO. Why? As your first listed "Editor" you have North America's top health CRACKPOT, delicensed and failed MD Stephen Barrett..."The sole purpose of the activities of Barrett & Baratz are to discredit and cause damage and harm to health care practitioners, businesses that make alternative health therapies or products available, and advocates of non-allopathic therapies and health freedom."

PRESS RELEASE: Vitamin E meta-analysis misleads consumers
By Alliance for Natural Health
"The following release is made by the ANH in the wake of a raft of negative publicity on Vitamin E following the meta-analysis released by Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions."

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity: Enzyme Related Toxic Overdose
By Josef Hasslberger
"
More than 200 diseases have been linked to pollution by a recent study, according to an article published in The Independent. Although it has been known for some time that increased cancer incidence is linked to pollution, it is seldom we see an open acknowledgement in the mainstream press that we are actively poisoning ourselves with chemicals and other pollutants released freely into the environment. Those substances are so ubiquitous that most people have a toxic cocktail mixed in with their blood. Although some tentative steps in the right direction are being taken - there is the recent announcement of a National Institutes of Health study that recommends Doctors and..."

Prozac, Painkillers & Hormones Found in Tap Water
By Candida International
"Residues of hormones are well known to disrupt the reproductive abilities of amphibians and fish. There is also suspicion that antibiotic residues working their way up the food chain may promote resistance to the drugs, while many other medications could..."

Jonathan Wright on Forthcoming Vitamin Legislation

By Jonathan V. Wright
"You've taken supplements for years. You're out of vitamins C and E. You go to your natural food store, but you can't find the kind you want on the shelf. You ask a clerk to find them for you. She says you can't get your vitamin E as mixed tocopherols (the best natural form) anymore, and asks if you like your vitamin C in the 100 or 200 milligram size. The 1,000 milligram size, you say."

The Day CODEX Will Protect You From High-Dose Dietary Supplements?
By Friendsoffreedom
"Here is a good summary of how unscientific these so called scientific bodies can be when it comes to protect their cronies. Given such huge benefits from supplements, these shenanigans should be countered and the whole sham initiative turned against the preparators. Sadly the authorities know that such a counter initiative is difficult and costly, hence unlikely, and they will continue to blatantly abuse us. Hopefully we can prove their assumption wrong as per the following:.."

Companies may face tighter regulation over promoting drugs
By Friendsoffreedom
"The drug industry may be facing the same kind of sea change in business practices and regulation that other segments of corporate America faced in the wake of Enron and other corporate scandals, says an article in the New England Journal of Medicine ( 2004;351: 1891-900)..."

Second Flawed Study Slams High-Dose Vitamins
By Bill Sardi
"The common error in both reports is that people who are diabetic or have cardiovascular disease, and therefore are at higher risk of dying due to their disease, are more likely to be taking high-dose vitamin pills. The vitamin C researchers concede "there is a possibility that patients with more severe diabetes tend to consume more supplemental vitamin C." Researchers involved in the vitamin E study admit to no such possibility."

World Report on Knowledge for Better Health
By NELH
"This report from the World Health Organisation focuses on bridging of the "know do" gap, the gulf between what we know and what we do in practice, between scientific potential and health realization. The bridging of this gap is central to achieving the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDG's) by 2015."

Herbal Safety
By Marcus P. Zillman
"Herbal Safety
http://www.herbalsafety.utep.edu/In the past decade, there has been an increased interest in herbal medicines and treatments, both from the mainstream medical community and the general public. One need look no further than the cold drink section of the local supermarket to see the various herbal supplements that are prominently displayed on many drink labels. In an effort to provide critical evaluations of these various herbs and related products, the University of Texas at El Paso has created this important website in order to disseminate information about research findings related to herbal use and to provide these findings in both English and Spanish. There are a number of very helpful fact sheets presented here, including those that the deal with such commonly used medicinal herbs and plants, such as ginseng, chamomile, pumpkin seeds, and St. John's Wort. The Herbal Safety site also contains information on recent medical studies that examine the effectiveness of such medicinal treatments."
